From June 14-17, the delegation of Lam Dong province, led by Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Council of Central Highlands Lam Dong province Tran Duc Quan, paid a working trip to Venezuela to promote diplomatic relations and seek cooperation for mutual development.
The Vietnamese delegation had meetings with Jesus Farias, member of the Venezuelan Constituent Assembly and Vice President in charge of economic affairs of the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) Jesus Farias, and Venezuelan Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Tatiana Puigh.
During the first visit to Venezuela and the beautiful capital of Caracas, the delegation received a warm and friendly welcome from the host country.
At the meeting, Tran Duc Quan appreciated the hospitality of the Venezuelan leaders for the delegation.
Quan recalls the solidarity and support that the progressive forces and people of Venezuela gave to Vietnam in the struggle for reunification in the past and the renewal cause at present.
“Many Vietnamese people still remember the story of the Venezuelan guerrillas who arrested the US lieutenant colonel to demand the release of hero Nguyen Van Troi, a Vietnamese soldier in 1964.
It was an expression of friendship unprecedented in the history of the revolutionary struggle of the oppressed peoples of the 20th century.
Although Vietnam and Venezuela are geographically distant, the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) is delighted at the achievements that the PSUV obtained over the past time, especially the success of its 5th National Congress,” Quan said.
