Hoi An receives certificate honouring it as world’s best city

NDO – The ancient city of Hoi An in the central province of Quang Nam topped the list of 15 best cities in the world in a recent vote by the New-York based travel magazine Travel & Leisure.

The Hoi An City People’s Committee received a certificate honouring this fact at a recent traditional music show held in the city on September 7.

The recent vote was carried out between November 5, 2018, and March 4, 2019, during which readers were invited to rate cities, airlines, airports, cruise lines, spas, and hotels.

For the ranking, readers were asked to rate cities based on criteria like sights, landmarks, culture, cuisine, friendliness, shopping and overall value — all categories that scored high among visitors to Hoi An.

Hoi An claimed the top position in the list with a score of 90.31 out of the total 100. Hoi An has experienced a resurgence and revitalisation thanks to young and worldly locals who are opening regionally-focused restaurants, experimental cocktail bars, and trendy boutiques.

Readers also laud the city for its friendly locals, rich culture and heritage, and food scene.

Other cities that followed Hoi An in Travel Leisure’s list included San Miguel de Allende (Mexico), Chiang Mai (Thailand), Mexico City and Oaxaca (Mexico).
