Hanoi’s Ancient Charm: A City of History, Architecture, and Nature’s Canopy

Hanoi captivates visitors not only with its ancient buildings and historical relics but also with its lush canopy of old trees that have become an integral part of this thousand-year-old capital.

Exploring Hanoi, one can’t help but feel a sense of tranquility as they stroll along tree-lined streets, such as the majestic Sau (Dracontomelon duperreanum) trees gracing Phan Dinh Phung Street or the stately Sao den (Hopea odorata) trees on Lo Duc Street. These avenues of ancient trees provide a natural respite from the scorching summer heat, offering shade and a peaceful atmosphere.

Autumn transforms Hanoi’s streets into a photographer’s paradise, with the city’s architecture and historical sites enhanced by the vibrant hues of the changing foliage. For the people of Hanoi, trees are an essential part of the city’s fabric, seamlessly weaving together old and modern buildings and earning Hanoi the titles of “The Green City” and “The City of Peace.”
