Welcoming the upcoming National Day, many events and activities have been held by Vietnam’s expatriates since last weekend.
The Overseas Vietnamese Association in Macau, China, celebrated the 78th anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day with a ceremony on August 27, as reported by VNA.

Consul Nguyen Tuan Anh, representing the Consulate General of Vietnam in Hong Kong and Macau, commended the association for its contributions to the development of the Macau Special Administrative Region and promoting the images of Vietnam and its people to the local authorities, residents, and working communities within the region.
Anh expressed hope that the association will continue to lead and excel in all of its endeavors.
Duong Trung Duc, chairman of the association, emphasized the unity and strength of the association since its establishment on May 8, 2022. Its members have made positive contributions to the development of Vietnam and the host country.

in Macau to reflect on Vietnam’s history and turn their thoughts towards the homeland. It is also one of the activities to give the people of Macau a deeper understanding of Vietnam, and its culture and history.
Vietnamese representatives from 21 cities and provinces of Macau also participated in the event.
Currently, there are about 8,000 Vietnamese living and working in Macau.

A similar event was held in Budapest to celebrate the National Day of Vietnam and Hungary, with the participation of 150 delegates.
President of the Hungary-Vietnam Friendship Association Kristóf Szatmáry expressed Hungary’s warm sentiments towards Vietnam and affirmed the association’s commitment to enhancing ties between the two countries in all fields.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Hungary Nguyen Thi Bich Thao reviewed the achievements in the traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Hungary after 73 years of diplomatic relations and five years of bilateral comprehensive partnership.
The diplomat emphasized that the bilateral ties are developing fruitfully in areas such as politics-diplomacy, economics, justice, education, and parliamentary cooperation.
She took the opportunity to thank the Hungarian Government for supporting Vietnam in training high-quality human resources and commended the efforts of the Hungary-Vietnam Friendship Association in fostering people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
During the event, outstanding Vietnamese and Hungarian translators were honored for their work in introducing and promoting Vietnamese and Hungarian cultural values to each other countries.

In Vientiane, Laos, a national badminton tournament for Vietnamese people kicked off on August 26. The two-day event, organized by the General Association of Vietnamese people in Laos, aimed to provide an opportunity for Vietnamese people in Laos to meet, exchange, strengthen solidarity, and improve the position of the Vietnamese community in Laos. It also encouraged participants to engage in physical activity for better health.

Earlier, on August 19, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Savannakhet organized a football exchange between the Vietnamese community in Savannakhet and officials of the Department of Foreign Affairs at the football field of the Laos-Vietnam Friendship School. The event was held to celebrate the 78th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day.
In the Republic of Korea (RoK), the Vietnam Football Association in the RoK launched the VFAK Yeongnam Cup 2023, drawing 12 teams from North Gyeongsang, South Gyeongsang, Daegu city, Ulsan, and Busan, to celebrate the 78th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day with the sponsorship of the Vietnamese Embassy.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Iran organized a sports tournament, including table tennis, badminton, futsal, golf, and tug-of-war, to promote solidarity and interaction among officers, employees, and their families. The event aimed to enhance people-to-people exchanges between the Embassy and Iran.
Opening time for Hue Festival 2020 adjusted
The Hue Festival 2020 will open on August 26 this year, two days earlier than the previously-decided date of August 28, the festival organising board said on July 21.
