Expatriates From Around the World Gather to Commemorate Vietnam’s National Day

In honor of the 78th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2), Vietnam's expatriates have taken part in a variety of festive activities.

Welcome everyone to the upcoming National Day celebration. Over the past weekend, Vietnamese expatriates have organized a multitude of events and activities to commemorate this special occasion.

According to VNA, the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Macau, China recently hosted a ceremony on August 27 to commemorate the 78th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and the National Day (September 2).

Speaking at the event, Consul Nguyen Tuan Anh, representing the Consulate General of Vietnam in Hong Kong and Macau, commended the association for its significant contributions to the development of the Macau Special Administrative Region. He also acknowledged their effort in promoting the images of Vietnam and its people to local authorities, residents, and working communities within the region.

Anh is hopeful that the association will continue to lead and excel in all of its endeavors.

Duong Trung Duc, the chairman of the association, stated that since its establishment on May 8th, 2022, the association has demonstrated resilience and unity. Its members have played a crucial role in the advancement of their homeland as well as the host country.

Vice Chairwoman of the association, Tran Thi Gon, stated that the event provides an opportunity for the Vietnamese community in Macau to reflect on Vietnam’s history and reconnect with their homeland. It also serves as a means to deepen the understanding of Vietnam, its culture, and history among the people of Macau.

Vietnamese representatives from 21 cities and provinces of Macau were also present at the event.

Currently, there are approximately 8,000 Vietnamese individuals residing and employed in Macau.

A commemorative event was held in Budapest to celebrate the National Day of Vietnam and Hungary, attracting a gathering of 150 delegates.

During the event, Kristóf Szatmáry, President of the Hungary-Vietnam Friendship Association, expressed the sincere admiration of the Hungarian people towards Vietnam. He also emphasized the association’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the bilateral relationship between the two nations in various sectors.

The Vietnamese Ambassador to Hungary, Nguyen Thi Bich Thao, highlighted the significant progress made in the longstanding friendship and comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Hungary. This progress has been achieved over 73 years of diplomatic relations and five years of bilateral cooperation.

The diplomat confirmed that the bilateral relations are progressing successfully on the important foundations of politics-diplomacy, economics, justice, education, and parliamentary cooperation.

During the occasion, she expressed her gratitude to the Hungarian Government for their support in training high-quality human resources in Vietnam. She also recognized the commendable efforts made by the Hungary-Vietnam Friendship Association in facilitating people-to-people exchange between the two nations.

During the event, exceptional Vietnamese and Hungarian translators were recognized for their efforts in fostering the exchange and promotion of Vietnamese and Hungarian cultural values between the two nations.

Meanwhile, a national badminton tournament for Vietnamese people in Laos commenced on August 26 in Vientiane.

The two-day event was organized by the General Association of Vietnamese people in Laos and attracted the participation of Vietnamese individuals and employees of Vietnamese businesses in the country.

Pham Van Hung, Chairman of the General Association of Vietnamese People in Laos, announced the organization’s inaugural national badminton tournament. The event aims to foster connections among the Vietnamese community in Laos and facilitate cultural exchanges, ultimately strengthening unity and enhancing the position of the Vietnamese community within the country.

According to him, it is also anticipated that the initiative will encourage individuals to engage in physical activity, promoting their overall well-being.

On August 19, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Savannakhet, Laos, organized a football exchange at the Laos-Vietnam Friendship School football field. The event brought together the Vietnamese community in Savannakhet and officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs for a friendly match.

In honor of the 78th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, the Vietnam Football Association in the Republic of Korea (RoK) has launched the VFAK Yeongnam Cup 2023. This event is sponsored by the Vietnamese Embassy in the RoK and will feature 12 teams from North Gyeongsang, South Gyeongsang, Daegu city, Ulsan, and Busan.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Iran also hosted a sports tournament, featuring diverse sports such as table tennis, badminton, futsal, golf, and tug-of-war. The event aimed to foster camaraderie and engagement among the Embassy’s officers, employees, and their respective families.
