Da Nang City, Brazilian Localities Foster Cultural Collaboration

Brazilian soccer icons such as Coach Dunga, Rivaldo, Lucio, Ze' Carlos, Giovanni, Kleberson, Edmilson, and Paulo Sergio are set to visit the coastal city of Da Nang, Vietnam, to participate in various events as part of the Brazil-Vietnam Football Festival 2024. This prestigious event aims to showcase the vibrant city of Da Nang to the world while fostering cultural exchange between Brazil and Vietnam through the shared passion for football.

On April 27th, Da Nang leaders welcomed Brazilian Ambassador Marco Farani and legendary football players who are in the central beach city for the ongoing Brazil-Vietnam Football Festival 2024, as reported by VNA.

During the meeting, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Tran Chi Cuong praised the Brazilian Embassy’s role in promoting and implementing bilateral cooperation programs, fostering relations between the two countries in general, and Da Nang and Brazil in particular.

The football festival, held in the city on April 27th and 28th, features various exchange activities to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the two nations’ diplomatic relations and the 16th anniversary of their comprehensive partnership.

As part of the event, the Brazil Football Academy will be officially launched in Da Nang to collaborate, transfer, and support youth football training, creating opportunities for movement football development and awarding scholarships to promote education and provide gifts to underprivileged children.

Cuong expressed Da Nang’s appreciation for the embassy’s organization of cultural and sports exchange events this year and beyond. He also expressed hope that the football legends would enjoy their stay in the city and become ambassadors for promoting Da Nang’s tourism and culture to the Brazilian people.

In response, Farani highlighted the positive growth of diplomatic relations between the countries and expressed his hope that following the festival, there would be many opportunities for young players from the city to visit Brazil for exchanges and training.

Da Nang’s exports to Brazil were estimated at USD 21 million last year, with key exports including finished rubber and handicrafts. Its import turnover from the Latin American nation remains insignificant, with no Brazilian investment projects currently in the city.

On April 27th, the visiting team, featuring renowned former football stars and World Cup champions from 1994 and 2002 such as Rivaldo, Dunga, Edmilson, Kleberson, Giovanni, Zé Carlos, and Paulo Sergio, showcased their exceptional skills at the 20,000-seat Hoa Xuan Stadium during the Brazil-Vietnam Football Festival 2024.

Striker Renan demonstrated his scoring abilities by netting four goals, while Igor scored twice and Alexandro contributed one, leading the Brazilian football legends team to a 7-1 victory over Vietnam in a friendly match.

During the break, Brazilian and Vietnamese stars interacted with fans, signing shirts and balls and taking photos at the stand.

The Brazil Football Academy will debut at the city’s V-Village in Hoa Vang District as part of the festival, and a beach festival will take place on April 28th.
