According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on August 18, showers and thunderstorms were experienced in the Northern mountainous region, with rainfall from 7 am to 3 pm on August 18. Some areas recorded significant rainfall, such as Quang Khe (Bac Kan) with 91.2mm, Qui Quan (Tuyen Quang) with 73.7mm, and Ban Ngo (Ha Giang) with 69mm.

The forecast for the evening of August 18 to 19, 2023, indicates that the Northern region will experience moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms, with a common rainfall of 40 – 80mm, and some areas may experience over 150mm of rainfall.

Northwest: Cloudy, with very heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms in some places. There is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts of wind during thunderstorms. Northeast: Cloudy, with heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms in some places. Similar to the Northwest region, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts of wind during thunderstorms. The lowest temperature is expected to be between 25-28 degrees, and even lower in mountainous areas. The highest temperature will range from 30-33 degrees.

Thanh Hoa – Thua Thien Hue area: Cloudy, with showers and thunderstorms in the evening and night in some places. Similar to the other regions, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts of wind during thunderstorms. The lowest temperature is expected to be between 26-29 degrees. The highest temperature will range from 35-37 degrees, with some places reaching over 37 degrees.

Da Nang to Binh Thuan area: Cloudy, with showers and thunderstorms in the North during the evening and at night. The South will experience showers and thunderstorms at night, with scattered showers and thunderstorms in the evening. Similar to other regions, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts of wind during thunderstorms. The lowest temperature is expected to be between 25-28 degrees, with some places exceeding 28 degrees. The highest temperature will range from 35-37 degrees in the North, and exceed 37 degrees in certain areas.

Central Highlands: Cloudy, with showers and thunderstorms in some areas. In the afternoon, there will be moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms in some places. Similar to other regions, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts of wind during thunderstorms. The lowest temperature is expected to be between 20-23 degrees, and the highest temperature will range from 28-31 degrees.

Ho Chi Minh City: In the evening and night of August 19, the Ho Chi Minh City area was cloudy with intermittent sunshine, and there was moderate rain in some places. The temperature ranged from 31-34 degrees, slightly lower than the previous day.

Da Nang City: The Da Nang area experienced a change from sunny to cloudy on August 19. In the afternoon and evening, there were showers and thunderstorms in some places. The temperature varied between 34-35 degrees.
