Agora names four Vietnamese photos top 50 stunning nature shots

Four images capturing Vietnam's landscape in Quang Ngai, Lam Dong, and Cao Bang provinces, are among the world's 50 most impressive nature photos in the Agora Awards 2020.

Four pictures include “Early Fog” by Cao Ky Nhan, “Nipa Palm Forest” by Nguyen Anh Trung, “The Leader” by Pham Huy Trung, all from Vietnam; and “Waterfall Paradise” by Belgian entrant Mica Veras Dos Santos, which features a waterfall in the northern province of Cao Bang.

“Nipa Palm Forest” taken by local photographer Luong Nguyen Anh Trung offers an airborne view of a green nipa palm forest in Tinh Khe commune, Son Tinh district, Quang Ngai province. Trung snapped this aerial shot of a person crouched amid leafy trees.

“Early Fog” was taken by Nhan in B’lao ward, Bao Loc city, Lam Dong province after he trekked through several “difficult roads” to mountain top, from where he could see the entire hills below while admiring the fog-covered mountains and get this perfect snap.

“Waterfall Paradise” by Mica Veras Dos Santos. The waterfall captured by Santos can be found situated in the north of the country in Cao Bang province.

“The Leader” taken by Pham Huy Trung, which captures a group of gannets relaxing on a rock in Muriwai beach, New Zealand, also makes its way to the 50 finalists.

With the aim of highlighting unique images of animals and landscapes worldwide, Agora launched the Nature2020 photo contest on January 31, challenging all photography lovers to represent what nature means to them through the camera lense. The contest received nearly 11,090 submissions. The winning photo will earn the 1,000 USD award.

Beside the 4 above-mentioned photos that showcase the majestic Vietnamese nature, the top 50 also boasts other amazing photos taken in other world’s corners.

“Being one with nature” taken by Alvaro Valiente. In order to capture this image, Valiente walked barefoot through a river before hiking up a hill on São Miguel island in Portugal.

“Lightnings” photographed by Swe Tun. According to Tun, the purple colour captured in this image marks the first time he was able to capture lightning on camera. He snapped the photo in Hpa-An, Myanmar.

“Follow the tracks” photographed by Alan Heisen Gallo. Gallo’s nominated image displays a fox as its trudges through snowy conditions in Rausu, Japan.

“Nature in darkness” photographed by Caro Rovira. This captivating shot was taken by Rovira in Parc Natural dels Ports in Spain.

“Colorful Nature” photographed by Aliawais. This aerial image of trees situated beside a lake appears like a scene taken straight from a Disney movie. Despite its epic display of nature, the photo was actually taken in Lahore, Pakistan.

“Living in a Giants World” was captured by Kent Sampson. Sampson’s nominated image was shot in a quiet area of Sequoia National Park in California. He told Agora that due to the area’s tall trees being difficult to photograph as a result of their size, showing their true height in perspective is necessary.
