On August 28, Agoda released the results of a survey titled “Ranking Destinations Travelers Want to Revisit.” Conducted from August 1-19, the survey garnered responses from over 4,000 participants across ten markets: Indonesia, India, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The survey revealed that Indian tourists favored Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia as their top three destinations, with 67% citing food, ease of travel, and affordability as key reasons for revisiting. Notably, 58% of respondents had revisited their favorite destinations 1-3 times in the last ten years, while approximately 4% had done so ten times.

Krisha Rathi, Agoda’s Director for South Asia and the Maldives, commented that this ranking demonstrates how Indian travelers view Thailand, Vietnam, and Bali (Indonesia) as destinations offering unique experiences worth repeating. Additionally, the survey underscored the significance of hospitality, with one-third of Indian respondents mentioning friendly locals as a crucial factor influencing their decision to return.

When it comes to Asian tourists, Japan, Thailand, and Vietnam emerged as the top three destinations they wished to visit again. Convenient transportation was the primary motivator for 44% of Asian tourists to return to these favorite spots.

The Pacific Asia Travel Association’s report, published early in 2024, highlighted Vietnam’s appeal to international visitors, boasting a return rate of 10-40%. Vietnam captivates travelers with its rich culture, culinary delights, stunning landscapes, hassle-free travel, and excellent value for money.
