As the new coach, Tuan has already named 27 official players for the upcoming U23 Asian Cup campaign.

The squad consists of footballers who are already familiar with Tuan from youth levels, including previous U17, U19, and U20 tournaments; as well as the most recent championship title won by Vietnam at the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) U23 Championship.

Young footballer Van Truong has plenty of experience playing for Vietnam’s U23 squad.

Vi Hao hailing from the southern province of Binh Duong is one of the most talented strikers in the team.

Tuan previously led the Vietnam’s U20 squad through the qualifying round to the 2023 AFC U20 Asian Cup finals in Uzbekistan in May, 2023. Last August, he coached Vietnam’s U23 side to victory at the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 Championship for the second time in Thailand. In addition, under Tuan’s tutelage Vietnam’s U19 team made the top four of the 2016 AFC U-19 Championship and represented Asia at the 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup finals.

Vietnam’s U23s will play a friendly match against Jordan’s U23s on April 10. At the 2024 AFC U23 Asian Cup finals, which will run from April 15 to May 3 in Qatar, Vietnam will play in Group D.
Their opponents will be Uzbekistan, Kuwait, and Malaysia. The tournament is also meant to determine the Asian representatives for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
