Though many never met the General Secretary in person, they hold him in high regard and have deep affection for his leadership and contributions to the nation.

“I feel compelled to come and pay my final respects to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, a competent and respected leader,” shares 76-year-old Nguyen Thi Luu from Hai Phong city.

The loss of such a revered leader has left this woman, and many others, deeply saddened and emotional.

The line of people stretches far, all wishing to bid farewell to the General Secretary and honor his memory.

In the afternoon, people are permitted to view the casket and offer their condolences.
