Oanh registered for a total of four events at the tournament: the 5,000-meter run which took place at 5:35 pm on Monday, the 3,000-meter hurdles at 5:50 pm on Tuesday, the 1,500-meter event at 4:30 pm on Thursday, and the 10,000-meter category at 5:00 pm on Friday.

On the initial day, she effortlessly won the 5,000-meter gold medal in an impressive time of 17 minutes and 0.33 seconds.
On Tuesday morning, the Vietnamese runner was unexpectedly notified by the organizers that their schedule had changed, and the 1,500-meter run and 3,000-meter hurdles would now be taking place side by side. This came as a surprise to the athlete, and presented a difficult challenge.

Consequently, Oanh had to compete in the 1,500-meter run at 5:35 pm and the 3,000-meter hurdles at 5:50 pm on Tuesday. She had to face a daunting task, as she had to compete in both races in the span of just 15 minutes. Nevertheless, she was determined to give her best and hoped for a positive result.
Although her stamina was evidently affected by the short recovery time after the first race, she still managed to demonstrate her remarkable sprinting ability in the latter event, creating an extraordinary feat of two gold medals in about 30 minutes – a challenge that would be formidable for any top international runner.

Host Cambodia came in second place at the competition, taking home 39 gold, 38 silver, and 39 bronze medals. They were closely followed by Thailand, who earned 39 gold, 29 silver, and 43 bronze medals.

The 2023 Southeast Asian Games is currently taking place in Cambodia’s Phnom Penh, Siem Reap Province, Preah Sihanouk Province, Kampot Province, and Kep Province until May 17. This is the first time the Southeast Asian Games have been hosted by Cambodia, and it is expected to be a grand celebration of sport, culture, and camaraderie. The event will feature a variety of traditional sports such as football, basketball, and tennis, as well as more modern sports like beach volleyball, skateboarding, and e-sports.
