Welcoming Russian Tourists: Leaders of Khanh Hoa’s Culture, Sports, and Tourism Department greet Russian visitors at Cam Ranh International Airport. |
On March 23, the Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, in collaboration with relevant agencies, warmly welcomed the first commercial flight from Moscow to Cam Ranh International Airport.
Aeroflot, Russia’s flagship carrier, operates this route with Airbus A350-900 and A330-300 aircraft, offering spacious cabins for 315 and 295 passengers, respectively. Flights will conveniently run thrice weekly.
The inaugural flight, originating from Moscow’s Sheremetyevo International Airport, touched down at Cam Ranh International Airport at 9:30 a.m., carrying 292 passengers.
Historically, Russia has been a significant source market for tourism in Khanh Hoa province. However, the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine conflict led to a suspension of direct flights and a subsequent decline in Russian tourist arrivals in recent years.
During a recent delegation visit to Russia, representatives from Khanh Hoa province met with Aeroflot officials, emphasizing the importance of establishing a direct flight route to boost bilateral tourism.
Reinstating this flight path will not only reduce travel time and costs but also reinvigorate the Russian tourist market. Additionally, it is anticipated to foster stronger trade relations and bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and Russia.
Furthermore, Russian airline Azur Air resumed charter flights to Khanh Hoa on March 17, with plans to operate 50 flights in April, gradually increasing frequency to nearly 100 flights by July.
With Aeroflot and Azur Air leading the way, other Russian airlines have also expressed intentions to launch direct flights to Cam Ranh this summer, promising a vibrant and accessible travel season ahead.
