Hanoi’s Department of Tourism has advised travel agencies against organizing tours to the train street in the Cua Nam, Hang Bong, and Cua Dong wards.
The department has also instructed travel agencies to educate their staff about the potential dangers of train-related accidents in areas with cafes operating close to railway tracks.
Additionally, relevant authorities are urged to collaborate proactively to identify, prevent, and address any violations promptly, ensuring the safety of tourists and residents alike.
The train street, a unique attraction connecting Le Duan, Tran Phu, Cua Dong, and Phung Hung streets, spans approximately 2 kilometers. It has become a popular destination for tourists, especially on weekends, offering a one-of-a-kind experience of witnessing trains passing by at close range.
The stretch of train street from Tran Phu to Phung Hung, approximately 300 meters long, has been nicknamed the “new train street coffee” by tourists and is particularly favored by foreign visitors.
This section boasts a row of coffee shops situated right next to the railway, providing patrons with a unique opportunity to enjoy their beverages while watching trains pass by, an experience that has drawn many foreign tourists to the area.
Previously, the Hoan Kiem district People’s Committee had repeatedly called for stricter enforcement of penalties against businesses operating along the train street due to persistent violations within the railway safety corridor.
The situation posed a significant safety hazard, with both locals and tourists gathering not only along the corridor but also on the train tracks themselves.
The Hanoi Department of Tourism’s decision to ban tours to this area is a necessary step to ensure the safety of visitors, maintain a secure railway corridor, and preserve public order.
