The cyclists started the stage at different times based on their rankings from low to high, with Tap Doan Loc Troi from southern An Giang Province and Ho Chi Minh City-Vinama being the last starters.

While Duoc Domesco Dong Thap was the best team after the first lap with 19 minutes and 21 seconds, Tap Doan Loc Troi clocked 39 minutes and 9.56 seconds after two laps to take victory.

Duoc Domesco Dong Thap and Ho Chi Minh City-Vinama followed behind after 39 minutes and 22.54 seconds and 39 minutes and 28.63 seconds, respectively.

Igor Frolov of Ho Chi Minh City-Vinama retained the overall leader’s yellow jersey.

The cyclists were scheduled to race 136 kilometers from Nha Trang City City, Khanh Hoa Province to Da Lat City, Lam Dong Province, through Khanh Le and Giang Ly mountain passes, in the 20th stage of the tourney on Wednesday.

The HTV Cup race has been held annually since 1989 and is considered Vietnam’s ‘Tour de France.’

In its 34th edition, the competition will take 98 cyclists from 14 competing teams through 2,316.2 kilometers in 23 stages from north to south in celebration of Vietnam’s reunification on April 30, 1975.
