For the first time, nearly 200 documents in the archives and original sketches of the Vietnamese national emblem by Bui Trang Chuoc (1915-1992) were on display at an exhibition. The exhibition honored Bui Trang Chuoc’s passionate work of creating the Vietnam national emblem which shows the Vietnamese identity and traditional culture.

Born in Hanoi, Bui Trang Chuoc graduated from the Indochina Fine Arts College in 1941. In 1951, a design contest for a national emblem was launched, which attracted artists nationwide. Chuoc joined the contest, drawing 112 sketches, of which 15, from general to detailed, were submitted to the Prime Minister in October 1954 for a final decision.
Chuoc was also the first Vietnamese to design postage stamps in Indochina. In 1953, he received the duty of creating models for merit, order and medals for the government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
