The program was organized by the municipal Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation and other organizations. It took place at the Youth Culture House and Hoan Cau Hotel in District 1, as well as AEON Mall in Binh Tan District.

Reporters from Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper observed that many areas and buildings in the city turned off their lights for one hour starting at 8:30 pm.

At Hoan Cau Hotel, many young people participated in the Earth Hour by lighting candles and forming a 60+ logo.

Students of the Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City also took part in the event by turning off all lights in their dormitory rooms in Thu Duc City.

Various activities were organized at the Youth Culture House and AEON Mall in Binh Tan to celebrate the 2021 Earth Hour and raise awareness about environmental protection. These activities included green living challenges and cycling to generate electricity.

“Thanks to this program, I now understand the importance of saving energy in my daily life,” said Thanh Dao, a 25-year-old resident of Binh Thanh District. “It not only benefits me personally, but also contributes to the protection of our planet.”

Hoang Lan, the manager of a café in District 1, mentioned that their venue has been participating in the Earth Hour for four consecutive years. “Many customers were initially surprised when we turned off all the lights, but they quickly appreciated the ambience created by candles,” Lan stated.
