At the closing ceremony, Nguyen Thien Van, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, highlighted that the festival celebrated Vietnamese coffee culture, with a particular focus on the renowned Buon Ma Thuot Coffee brand and its geographical indication. The event aimed to promote premium and specialty coffee to a global audience, attracting trade and investment opportunities.

This year’s festival, themed “Buon Ma Thuot – Coffee City,” offered a diverse range of official and supporting events. It coincided with the 50th anniversary of Buon Ma Thuot’s victory and the liberation of Dak Lak province, making it all the more significant. The festival attracted a large number of visitors, including international guests, who were captivated by the vibrant cultural programs that showcased the region’s traditional identity.

A key aspect of the festival was the strong participation of coffee exporters, importers, experts, and enthusiasts. The coffee and OCOP exhibition showcased the involvement of 180 organizations, including international exhibitors, and provided a platform for them to connect and explore opportunities. The international trade conference brought together delegates to discuss strategies for sustainable coffee development and enhancing the value of Vietnamese coffee on the global market. Additionally, the free coffee day was a huge success, with cafes and businesses enthusiastically offering their support.

One of the major highlights of the festival was the cultural activities that offered unique and memorable experiences for visitors. These included a dynamic light festival with drone shows, a street festival with a unique 360-degree stage, and traditional local celebrations such as the Buon Don Elephant Festival and the Lak district boat race, which added a touch of cultural authenticity to the event.

A significant milestone was achieved during the festival as the “Knowledge of Coffee Cultivation and Processing in Dak Lak” was recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. This acknowledgment pays tribute to the region’s long-standing tradition and expertise in coffee farming and production, bringing pride to local farmers and the entire coffee industry of the province.

Furthermore, the groundbreaking of Trung Nguyen Legend’s coffee plant, the largest in Southeast Asia, during the festival solidified Dak Lak’s position as the coffee capital of Vietnam. This development brings Buon Ma Thuot a step closer to its dream of becoming the “World’s Coffee City.”

In recognition of their outstanding contributions to the 9th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival, the Dak Lak provincial People’s Committee presented certificates of merit to 26 organizations and seven individuals, honoring their role in the festival’s success.
