The Vietnam Association for Rights Protection of Music Performing Artists (APPA), with support from the Vietnamese Embassy, Vietnam Union Association in Japan (VUAJ), and the Association for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese, organized a captivating event that garnered significant interest from the Vietnamese community and Japan’s Vietnam-loving residents.
With a focus on preserving the Vietnamese language and culture, the event aimed to enrich the cultural lives of Vietnamese expatriates. This edition in Japan was the fifth iteration of a successful competition previously held in various European and Southeast Asian countries.
Over 200 contestants, despite their youth, participated in the competition, which commenced on May 1. They enthralled the audience with traditional Vietnamese folk melodies that celebrated their ethnic identity, love for their homeland, and pride in Vietnamese culture.
After two rigorous rounds, the top 17 finalists progressed to the final round on July 13. Nguyen Tran Bao Trinh emerged as the sole gold medalist, captivating the audience with her renditions of “Ly Ngua O” and “Thuong Ca Tieng Viet.”
