Mouthwatering Delicacies Captivate Foreigners at Hue Cuisine Festival in Central Vietnam’s Culinary Heart

International tourists attending the 2024 Hue Traditional Cuisine Week commencing Saturday evening have conveyed their enthusiasm for the traditional dishes of Thua Thien-Hue Province in central Vietnam.

The cuisine event, which will run until Wednesday next week, is treating local and international tourists to a wide array of dishes such as banh beo (steamed rice pancakes), banh bot loc (tapioca dumplings) and banh nam (flat steamed rice dumplings) at Thuong Bac Park on Tran Hung Dao street in Dong Ba Ward under Hue City.

Holding a plate of various types of traditional Hue dumplings, Yvan from Canada said that he was bewitched by local dishes full of flavors.

Specially, dipping sauces make food taste better, he shared.

Yvan said that he travels to Vietnam each year, and has attended many food festivals, but the Hue cuisine event has impressed him a lot.

“Traditional Hue dishes have left me with a strong impression. Among them are bun bo Hue (Hue-style beef noodle soup) and nem lui (grilled pork on lemongrass skewers).”

“Hue cuisine is absolutely wonderful.” Yvan expressed his exhilaration of local food.

Hue dishes also beguiled Beatrix, a Brazilian who has been touring Hue for the first time.

Beatrix said that the central province not only boasts charming landscapes, but also is well-known for various dishes.

“I do love banh ep (Hue-style crepe). I savored it and was instructed to make the dish.”

“This was a wonderful experience,” she said.

Beatrix unveiled that she would return to Hue to try more dishes in the province.

Truong Dinh Hanh, vice-chairman of the Hue City People’s Committee, said that the Hue Traditional Cuisine Week 2024 program was aimed at honoring and preserving the cultural values of Hue cuisine.

The event is expected to contribute to turning Thua Thien – Hue Province into one of big cultural, food and tourism hubs in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

Apart from serving visitors with local dishes, the event is also entertaining them with numerous fascinating activities, and the ‘Dem Kinh do Hue – Tho, Ao dai va Am thuc space, where 105 sets of ao dai (Vietnam’s traditional long gown), 105 Hue dishes and 105 silk pages of calligraphy written about Hue dishes are introduced.
