Nguyen Thi Dong was one of 60 Vietnamese women who came to Algeria in the 1960s with their husbands. The 85-year-old lady is very active in community work. She is serving as the Vice Chairman of the Liaison Committee of Vietnamese in Algeria.

Abbassia – Dong’s daughter – was married to Cherif Bentamoune, the son of an Algerian father and a Vietnamese mother. Both of them can speak a little Vietnamese.

Ambassador Tran Quoc Khanh sent Dong and her family wishes for health and happiness. He hopes Dong continues to maintain community activities and consider the Embassy as a home, encouraging their children and grandchildren to learn Vietnamese to better understand the cultural traditions of their homeland.
