Da Nang: A Preferred Wedding Destination for Indian Couples

The grand wedding of Bhisham Ramchandani and Heena Paryani took place at the luxurious Danang Marriott Resort & Spa from February 29 to March 2. The event featured all the traditional Indian wedding rituals, accompanied by lively music.

Around 250 guests from different parts of the world, including Hong Kong, the Philippines, India, and the U.S., gathered at the five-star resort, as confirmed by a representative from Danang Marriott.

The joyful celebration began with a welcome party, followed by a Mehndi ceremony, which featured a pool party. The Sangeet ceremony, filled with dance and music performances, also took place during the festivities.

Piotr Madej, the General Manager of Danang Marriott Resort & Spa, expressed that the guests had a fantastic time experiencing the beautiful wedding traditions of India.

Prior to this wedding, several other Indian couples chose Da Nang, in central Vietnam, as their wedding destination.

In January, nearly 500 guests, along with staff members and over one metric ton of wedding materials, were transported from India to Da Nang for a celebration at the Sheraton Grand Da Nang Resort and Convention Center.

Between February 2 and 4, another Indian couple held their wedding at the Hyatt Regency Danang Resort & Spa, with over 200 attendees.

According to data from the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Center, Da Nang has hosted approximately six Indian weddings so far this year.

These joyous celebrations, spanning from three to five days, welcomed 200-350 guests and involved various traditional wedding ceremonies.

Hotels in Da Nang have also received bookings for wedding parties from Japanese couples and couples from other countries.

David Ippersiel, the General Manager of the Sheraton Grand Da Nang Resort and Convention Center, revealed that Indian brides tend to consider the reputation and unique features of a destination, along with other key factors, before choosing it as the venue for their grand weddings.

Despite the current suspension of flight services between Da Nang and India, couples can book connecting flights via Singapore or Kuala Lumpur to reach the Vietnamese coastal city, added Ippersiel.

Nguyen Thi Hoai An, the Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism, stated that the agency is collaborating with relevant organizations to pilot a program aimed at promoting wedding tourism, specifically targeting the Indian market.

The department is planning to assign individuals and units to attend the travel and tourism exhibition SATTE in India, as well as inviting Indian wedding planners to experience the wedding tourism facilities in Da Nang, An added.
