This information was announced at a press conference on the National Tourism Year 2021, co-organised by the General Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ninh Binh Provincial People’s Committee, in Ninh Binh city, on April 6.

Speaking at the press conference, Director General of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) Nguyen Trung Khanh said that Ninh Binh is a locality with a long history and cultural traditions, a place endowed with many interesting and unique landscapes by nature such as the Trang An ecotourism area, the Hoa Lu Ancient Capital Cultural and Historical Site, the Bai Dinh pagoda, Phat Diem Cathedral, Van Long Wetland Nature Reserve and Cuc Phuong National Park.

In order to promote the role of Ninh Binh’s tourism in linking and creating a driving force for tourism development in the Northern region as a whole, Ninh Binh was selected as the locality to host the National Tourism Year 2021, also the largest annual tourism event this year for the tourism industry in Vietnam.

The National Tourism Year 2021 takes place in a context wherethe whole tourism industry is trying to stimulate domestic tourism demand, getting ready to welcome international visitors in a new normal context. Therefore, successfully organising the National Tourism Year will contribute positively to the recovery and development of Vietnamese tourism in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic’s impact.

According to the organising board, Ninh Binh province – the host of the National Tourism Year 2021 will preside over 38 activities (including 11 key activities and 27 other activities). The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will preside over four activities.

104 events organised by 27 provinces and cities will celebrate the National Tourism Year 2021 including Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Ha Nam, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Hoa Binh, Tuyen Quang, Lang Son, Yen Bai, Lao Cai, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Ho Chi Minh City, Khanh Hoa, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Lam Dong , Can Tho, Ca Mau.

The opening ceremony for the National Tourism Year 2021 is scheduled to take place at 20:00 on April 20 at the national special heritage site of Hoa Lu, the nation’s ancient capital, Truong Yen commune, Hoa Lu district, Ninh Binh province.

The opening ceremony will be broadcast live on Vietnam Television. The ceremony will open with a series of events and activities for the National Tourism Year 2021.
