During the online opening ceremony Minister of Information and Communications Hoang Vinh Bao expressed his hope that this new style of festival will allow bookworms to enjoy access to new releases as they stay at home as part of efforts to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Minister Bao expects publishing houses nationwide to make a mark on the digital economy through the launch of the online festival.

The event will involve the participation of 40 of leading publishing houses throughout the country as they introduce approximately 10,000 books from a variety of different genres.

Each publishing house will host its own online booth, allowing them a platform to promote their own publications to readers.

It is scheduled to run until May 20 and will feature exchanges between authors and readers.
