“This is my first visit to Vietnam, and Ho Chi Minh City, in my mind, is an energetic and dynamic city,” he said at a meeting with young Vietnamese producers and directors.
The meeting was also attended by audiences at the Municipal Theater in District 1 on Tuesday within the framework of the ongoing Ho Chi Minh City International Film Festival 2024 (HIFF 2024).
“I think that the city is a potential environment for the film industry,” he said.
Responding to a question about his plan to shoot a film in Ho Chi Minh City, he shared that the city’s beautiful scenery would be great for a film.
“I will discuss this idea [of making a film in Ho Chi Minh City] with my co-workers, and if everything is ok, this will happen in the future,” he said.
He also shared that he would introduce Vietnam to South Korean filmmakers.

Some of his most well-known films include ‘The Foul King,’ a sport comedy-drama produced in 2000, the psychological horror ‘A Tale of Two Sisters’ (2003), and action-thriller ‘I Saw the Devil’ (2010).
The meeting was also attended by Kim Dong Ho, founder and former chairman of the Busan International Film Festival. He was invited to HIFF 2024 to serve as honorary chairman of the festival.
HIFF 2024, the first of its kind in the city, kicked off on April 6 and is scheduled to run until April 13.
