This is part of the city’s efforts to showcase national monuments to foreign tourists, aiming to promote its image as a friendly and open destination.
The 86 Le Thanh Ton Street building in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 1 was designed by renowned French architect Fernand Gardes.
Its construction started in 1889 and was completed in 1909; it was a monumental feat of engineering that has stood the test of time.
In 2020, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism officially recognized it as a national architectural relic, highlighting its importance in the country’s cultural heritage.
The building stands tall facing Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street, which is bustling with people on weekends and public holidays.
