Miss Earth Malaysia 2021, Nisha Thayananthan, left the audience spellbound at the Cannes Film Festival in France. She graced the event in an evening gown that drew inspiration from the ethereal beauty of mermaids, designed by the talented Vietnamese designer, Nguyen Minh Tuan.

The gown, a masterpiece in its own right, showcases a seamless fusion of emerald and purple hues, complemented by a fishtail silhouette and sheer mesh fabric. Delicate crystal embellishments, pearls, and gemstones add a touch of sophistication and allure to the overall design.

One of the gown’s most striking features is the soft, flowing pearl pattern that accentuates the hips and adds a dynamic element to the entire creation. The 3D textured detailing enhances the visual appeal, creating a truly unique and memorable look.

The designer, Nguyen Minh Tuan, owner of Minh Tuan Couture, masterfully employs a delicate color gradient printing technique, enhancing the intricate embellishments and layered chiffon. This creates a harmonious and eye-catching ensemble, seamlessly blending creativity and elegance.

“I am honored to present my latest design at the Cannes Film Festival once again,” expressed Nguyen Minh Tuan. “The festival, with its annual display of extravagant gowns and celebrity outfits, brings together the magic of film and fashion. I am proud to represent Vietnamese brands on this prestigious global stage, and I hope to see more of our local talent shine at Cannes.”

Hollywood actress Caylee Cowan also showcased two of Minh Tuan Couture’s designs at the previous year’s festival. Inspired by butterflies and Hanoi’s iconic Turtle Tower, these creations added a touch of Hollywood glamour to the event.

Nisha Thayananthan, an accomplished beauty queen, holds the title of Miss Earth Malaysia 2021, and is the only Malaysian in the history of the Miss Earth pageant to secure a spot in the top 20. A surgeon by profession, Thayananthan currently divides her time between Malaysia, Ireland, and Kuala Lumpur. Her accolades include the Inspirational Doctor of the Year 2021 Award and the Outstanding Student of the Year 2019 Award presented by Malaysia’s Prime Minister Razak.

The Cannes Film Festival, a pinnacle event in the world of cinema, music, and fashion, takes place from May 14 to 25, attracting the industry’s biggest names and brightest stars.
