Like Nha Trang, Hon Tre Island has two distinct seasons and consistently moderate temperatures throughout the year. Its monsoon period takes place from September until December. The dry period is from January until August. The best time to go to Hon Tre Island is during the dry season, around mid-February until May. Getting to Hon Tre Island
Getting to Hon Tre Island from Nha Trang is fairly easy thanks to daily ferries and speedboat transfers from Cao Da Port, near the Oceanographic Museum. Ferries depart for the island every 30 minutes between 07:00 and 16:00, while speedboats start as early as 08:00 every day. For those heading to Vinpearl Amusement Park, they can enjoy a 10-minute cable car ride from the port. It runs from 08:00 until 21:00 on weekdays and 08:00 until 22:00 on weekends. Inclusive of access to all games (except water sports) in the park, roundtrip tickets cost VND 800,000 per adult and VND 700,000 per child.
Hon Tre Island Attractions
Attractions on Hon Tre Island are mostly geared towards families due to the expansive amusement park and cultural village. However, there are plenty of natural beaches that are great for water sports, beach volleyball, and sunbathing. There are also several resorts and tour companies in Nha Trang that organize scuba diving and island-hopping excursions at reasonable rates.
Dining & Nightlife on Hon Tre Island
Dining options on Hon Tre Island are limited to restaurants set within Vinpearl Land Amusement Park, Con Se Tre Tourist Village, Vinpearl Nha Trang Resort, and Vinpearl Luxury Nha Trang. There’s also a local market close to the jetty, where you can find cheap Vietnamese dishes such as pho, bun cha sua (seafood noodle soup), banh cuon (rolled cake), and guoi chon (spring rolls). Its nightlife scene is nothing to shout about – expect standard hotel bars and lounges that serve cocktails, beers, and liquor at tourist prices.
