Vietnam’s coach Nguyen Duc Chung benched many key players and deployed his reserve line-up in the match against Cambodia at Cam Pha Stadium in northern Quang Ninh Province.

However, the Vietnamese women still managed to overpower their opponents.

In more than 90 minutes, the Cambodian visitors could barely get the ball onto Vietnam’s field.

Nguyen Thi Van opened the scoring for Vietnam with an accurate header in the sixth minute.

Although Vietnam had many good chances to widen the gap, no more goals were netted in the remaining time of the first half.

Pham Hai Yen scored the second goal for Vietnam in the 58th minute, before Nguyen Thi Tuyet Dung made it 3-0 in the 65th minute.

Cambodia seemed to lose control of the entire game, allowing Nguyen Thi Van, Tran Thi Thu, and Ngan Thi Van Su of Vietnam to score three more goals in just four minutes.

Duong Thi Van marked the 7-0 victory for Vietnam with her long-shot goal in the 88th minute.

Vietnam are leading Group A with six points, followed by the Philippines with three points and Cambodia with zero points.

The Vietnamese players will face either Thailand or Myanmar in the semifinals on May 18.
