At the ceremony, Le Thi Hoang Yen, Deputy Director of the Department of Sports and Physical Training (Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Vietnam), said that the cooperative relationship on sports between Vietnam and the UAE has become increasingly important in many fields. This is thanks to the two sides sending sports teams, officials, and leaders to attend regional, continental, and international sports tournaments held in each country. Some examples are the 3rd Asian Indoor Games in 2009 (Vietnam), the 5th Asian Beach Games in 2016 (Vietnam), and the 2019 Asian Football Championship (UAE).

In particular, at the 2023 Asian Youth Chess Championship in December 2023 in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Vietnamese team had 48 participating players in all age categories and competition contents. The team won 14 gold medals, 17 silver medals, and 17 bronze medals.

Le Thi Hoang Yen thanked the host for the recognition and honors given to the Vietnamese Chess team. On the other hand, she expressed her confidence in the interest and investment of the players. Yen believed the chess competition movement in Vietnam will continue to become a place to nurture passion and a cradle to produce talents that will bring great contributions.
