Int’l Traditional Martial Arts Festival Attracts Over 1,200 Participants in Binh Dinh

Over 1,200 martial arts experts and trainees from 70 different delegations across Vietnam, as well as 16 foreign delegations from 14 countries, gathered for the 8th International Festival of Vietnamese Traditional Martial Arts.

The 8th International Festival of Vietnamese Traditional Martial Arts was officially opened on the night of August 2 in Binh Dinh province, according to a report by VNA.

The festival, which takes place from August 2 to August 5, includes various events such as a flame lighting ceremony, talk shows, martial arts performances, tours to historical and cultural sites, and exhibitions showcasing the activities of local martial arts clubs. Over 1,200 athletes from 77 delegations around the world have registered to participate in the festival.

The opening ceremony, held in Quy Nhon city, featured a dance and music performance with the theme “Vietnamese Traditional Martial Arts – Aspiration to Reach Out”. The ceremony was attended by local martial arts masters and trainees, as well as famous singers and international delegations.

During the festival, athletes will participate in martial arts talks, exchanges, and visits to Binh Dinh’s dojos. They will also have the opportunity to explore the province’s landmarks, historic sites, and tourist destinations. Additionally, a photo exhibition showcasing martial arts practice in Vietnamese and international dojos will be held.

Vice Chairman of the Binh Dinh Provincial People’s Committee, Lam Hai Giang, highlighted that the festival aims to honor national traditional cultural values and showcase the people, landscapes, and customs of Binh Dinh to the world. He also emphasized the importance of sharing experiences to maintain and promote Vietnam’s traditional martial arts.

The 8th International Festival of Vietnamese Traditional Martial Arts is held every two years in Binh Dinh. In 2021, the event was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Binh Dinh is known as one of the birthplaces of Vietnam’s traditional martial arts, which has gained recognition as a cultural heritage. The festival has attracted a significant number of foreign martial artists, signifying the global interest and practice of Vietnam’s traditional martial arts.
