On the morning of January 3, handwriting is left on a hoar frost-covered surface on Mount Fansipan.

As temperatures begin to rise at midday, the hoar frost slowly begins to melt.

Frost covers snowmen on top the mountain.

This marks the sixth hoar frost observed on Mount Fansipan since the start of the 2023-2024 winter.

The authorities of Lao Cai have warned that the appearance of the frost poses health risks to people, crops, and animals. Local residents are advised to take measures against the weather phenomenon.

In the highlands of Lao Cai, this weather pattern often occurs during winter time, especially in December, January, and February.
