Dinh Anh Hoang and Tran Mai Ngoc emerged triumphant in the mixed doubles final of table tennis at the 2023 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Cambodia on Sunday, clinching Vietnam’s first gold medal in the category in 26 years with a resounding 3-1 victory over Singapore’s Clarence Chew and Jian Zheng.
The match was a hard-fought battle, with both teams fighting tooth and nail for every point. Both sides put in a tremendous effort, pushing each other to their limits in an intense, competitive match.
In the first and second games, the Vietnamese pair emerged victorious with scores of 13-11 and 11-8 respectively.
The experienced duo of Chew-Zheng refused to give in easily, with Chew in particular garnering four gold medals at the Southeast Asian Games.
He consistently racked up points, leading the Singaporean team to a resounding win of 11-8 in the third game.

The determined Vietnamese duo was determined to make a milestone by winning 14-12 in the fourth game and put an end to Vietnam’s 26-year gold medal drought in the event. Their impressive victory brought an end to an extended period of time without success for the nation and signified a momentous occasion for the country.
The 2023 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Cambodia are coming to a close on Wednesday. Spectators from around the region have come to witness the competition and cheer on their favorite teams and athletes. The Games have been a great success, with athletes competing in a wide variety of sports, from aquatics to athletics, and team sports like football and volleyball. There have been a number of impressive performances, and the closing ceremony promises to be a spectacular event. Vietnam sent a delegation of 1,003 members to the tournament and surpassed their target of earning at least 90 gold medals. As of 11:00 am on Monday, they had earned 107 gold, 92 silver, and 95 bronze medals, topping the ranking table.

Thailand achieved impressive results at the Games, taking home 91 gold, 68 silver, and 87 bronze medals. This remarkable performance placed the country in sixth place in the overall medal table.
Indonesia is ranked third in the medal tally, with a total of 68 gold, 61 silver, and 81 bronze medals.
Cambodia is the fourth country in the rankings, with 65 gold, 61 silver, and 104 bronze medals.
