Vietnam Writers’ Association honours outstanding members

NDO – The 2019 Vietnam Literature Awards were presented to eight outstanding winners at a ceremony held by the Vietnam Writers’ Association in Hanoi on January 14.

The special prize went to writer Ho Duy Le for his essay titled “Tru lai” (Staying).

The annual awards were given to writer Nguyen Hai Yen for her short story collection “Quan thuy than” (House of water-nymphs) as well as poets Tran Quang Dao and Tran Quang Quy for their works “Bay trong mo” (Flying in the dream) and “Nguon” (Source), respectively.

Three critical theory works, by Phan Trong Thuong, Ly Hoai Thu and Tran Dang Suyen, were also honoured at the ceremony.

The poem collection “Nostalgic Kiem Ho, episode 2”, which was translated from Han (Chinese script) by Nguyen Huu Thang, received the award in the field of translations.

On the occasion, 59 new members in the fields of poem, prose, critical theory, literary translation and children’s literature were added to the association.
