Vang Si, a local resident, reported that he encountered a wild elephant while traveling to Phieng Cam Commune, Mai Son District, Son La Province on Wednesday morning at approximately 8:00 am.

The elephant swiftly ventured into a large corn field before disappearing from sight.

A forestry official in Mai Son District confirmed this sighting to Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper.

Authorities have identified the elephant as a mature female, residing predominantly in the Song Ma and Mai Son Districts of Son La Province.

Local residents have been advised not to harm or provoke the elephant.

As of Wednesday noon, the elephant was peacefully resting in the border region between Mai Son and Song Mai, and had not caused any damage to crops or property.
