On May 1, Vietnamese Ambassador to Venezuela Vu Trung My hosted a productive working session with Venezuelan MP and Deputy Culture Minister, Alí Alejandro Primera, at the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela. The meeting served as a platform for Deputy Minister Alí Alejandro to update Ambassador Vu Trung My on the Venezuelan Government’s efforts to finalize preparations for the “Forever Ho Chi Minh” program, a commemorative event scheduled for May 21 at the Bolivar Theatre in Caracas.

The Deputy Minister’s respect and admiration for Vietnam and its iconic leader, Ho Chi Minh, were evident as he congratulated the Vietnamese people on the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification. He emphasized the significance of Ho Chi Minh as a revolutionary leader not just for Vietnam but for all humanity, a sentiment deeply rooted in his family’s legacy.

As a renowned musician, Deputy Minister Alí Alejandro shared his unique connection to Vietnam through music. He spoke of how, from a young age, he was influenced by his grandfather, the revolutionary and People’s Artist Ali Primera, who composed and performed songs praising Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh. These songs, including “Inolvidable Ho Chi Minh” (Forever Ho Chi Minh), “La figura de Ho Chi Minh” (The Portrait of Ho Chi Minh), and “La Mujer de Vietnam” (The Woman of Vietnam), have left an indelible mark on his perception of Vietnam’s resilience and Ho Chi Minh’s exemplary patriotism, selflessness, and compassion.

Providing further details about the upcoming “Forever Ho Chi Minh” program, the Deputy Minister revealed that it will feature prominent artists and the National Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela. He and other Venezuelan artists will perform timeless songs honoring Ho Chi Minh, composed by the late Ali Primera, as well as renowned international compositions, such as “Right to Live in Peace” by Victor Jara and “The Ballad of Ho Chi Minh” by Ewan MacColl, translated into Spanish by the late Chilean musician Rolando Alarcón.

Ambassador Vu Trung My expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the special bond between Deputy Minister Alí Alejandro Primera’s family and the Vietnamese people, exemplified by their long-standing admiration for Ho Chi Minh. He emphasized that this affection is a testament to the enduring respect that the Primera family, the Venezuelan people, and the global community have for President Ho Chi Minh.

Additionally, the Ambassador highlighted the ongoing “Honoring President Ho Chi Minh” project initiated by the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela to commemorate the 135th anniversary of Ho Chi Minh’s birth. This project aims to promote the ideological values, ethics, and legacy of Ho Chi Minh while celebrating the cultural ties between Vietnam and Venezuela, as well as the broader Latin American region.
