Various activities were held in localities across the country on December 31 to celebrate the New Year 2020.

The exciting atmosphere welcomes the new year 2020 at the countdown stages

According to the authorities, about 200,000 people gathered to Hoan Kiem Lake area to participate in music parties on the occasion of New Year 2020.

As many as 100 young artists helped ring in the New Year with the musical extravaganza ‘Countdown 2020’ at Hoan Kiem Lake on the night of December 31. Entitled ‘Dance of Light’, the event was co-held by the Hanoi People’s Committee, Vietnam Television (VTV) and Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel).

Prominent personel, who gained outstanding achievements in various fields in the international arena, were honoured at the programme. They included Labour Hero Ho Quang Cua, who produced the ‘World’s Best Rice 2019’, ST25; the group of Vietnamese engineers who created Micro Dragon, the first satellite ‘made by Vietnamese’ to be launched into space; and singer Son Tung MT-P with his impressive and successful ‘Sky Tour 2019’.

In addition, audiences had the chance to revel in performances and exchange with famous singers, such as Phuong Uyen, Luu Huong Giang, Nhat Thuy, Thieu Bao Trang and Oplus band.

At the Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square and Dinh Tien Hoang Street, an art programme entitled ‘Tiger Remix 2020 – Hanoi’ delighted attendees with various exciting performances by famous singers, including Soobin Hoang Son, Toc Tien, Min, Tuan Hung and Da LAB band.

The ‘Countdown Party – Voyage of time’ programme was also another option for the capital city’s people and visitors to choose from to welcome the New Year 2020.

On the evenings of December 31, 2019, and January 1, 2020, the Hanoi Municipal Department of Culture and Sports coordinated with districts to hold various cultural and art programmes to bring in the new year. Through the events, people also have the chance to learn more about the traditional art forms and contemporary arts of the country.

In Da Nang, a large number of people and tourists visit the tourist site to save the beautiful moments at the end of the year.

Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City rang in the New Year 2020 with firework displays, a 3D light show, and a musical countdown. The 15-minute fireworks displays were set off midnight New Year’s Eve at the Landmark 81 building in Binh Thanh District and the Thu Thiem Tunnel that links Districts 1 and 2 and Dam Sen Park in District 11.

On the night of December 31, 2019, and January 1, 2020, locals and international tourists enjoyed a light show using 3D mapping techniques at the headquarters of Ho Chi Minh City’s People’s Committee at 86 Le Thanh Ton Street, District 1. Downtown streets were decorated with artistic lighting.

In addition, many activities also took place in Tuyen Quang, Hue, Da Lat and Can Tho Province.
