The gathering of experts and policymakers aimed to shape a resolution promoting the peaceful utilization of nuclear power, paving the way for sustainable development and energy security.
Le Xuan Dinh, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, emphasized the long-term vision behind nuclear power adoption, relying on advanced, proven, and secure technologies. The proposed resolution’s core directive is to vigorously expand nuclear energy applications across various sectors, aligning with socio-economic growth plans and prioritizing safety for people and the environment.
Vietnam’s ambitious strategy aims to establish nuclear energy as a cornerstone for sustainable development and national security. This endeavor is underpinned by a robust legal framework, adherence to international standards, and strengthened global cooperation, ensuring a responsible and informed approach.
In crafting this proposal, the Ministry of Science and Technology sought insights from leading Vietnamese nuclear experts and collaborated with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and international specialists, reflecting a commitment to excellence and safety.
The conference delved into pivotal topics, including decentralized investment approval for nuclear power plants, long-term planning horizons until 2050, talent cultivation, incentives for nuclear professionals, and initiatives to attract students to nuclear energy fields.
