In the realm of heavy industry, innovation and technical improvement are the lifeblood of productivity. Truong Thi Thu Ha, from Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company (BSR), shared her insights on the importance of creativity. Since the inception of the Dung Quat Refinery, BSR has actively encouraged a culture of innovation, resulting in an impressive contribution of 1,417 initiatives to the “One Million Initiatives” program launched by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. This campaign generated over VND700 billion in its first year alone. The impact of these initiatives has been profound, elevating many workers to technical staff and managerial positions. However, Ha emphasizes the need for sustainable innovation, supported by appropriate mechanisms. She proposes that the Ministry of Science and Technology offer specific guidance on compensating innovation authors, recognizing their contributions and fostering a strong motivation for continuous innovation and national progress.
From Phung Thi Hanh’s inspiring journey in the garment industry to the process improvements at Honda Vietnam and the culture of innovation at BSR, it is evident that enhancing labor productivity transcends mere business interests. It demands a collective responsibility from all involved parties. When individuals embrace a learning mindset, enterprises provide supportive work environments, and policies are implemented effectively, Vietnam’s labor productivity will soar to new heights, propelling the country’s sustainable development forward.
