Torrential rain has wreaked havoc on the central coastal city, flooding many areas, particularly low-lying regions.

At 3:30 am on Saturday, rescue workers in Lien Chieu District were deployed to 161 Me Suot Street in Hoa Khanh Nam Ward to assist stranded residents in finding safer accommodations.

They successfully evacuated 12 locals, including two elderly individuals, one woman, and nine children, utilizing boats to transport them to a more secure shelter.

The affected area was submerged under 2.2 meters of rainwater.

Colonel Nguyen Xuan Cuong of the Da Nang Police Agency stated on Saturday morning that rescue teams were diligently working to rescue individuals in the midst of this severe flooding caused by incessant rainfall.

Additionally, police officers delivered essential supplies, including bread, food, and bottles of drinking water, to several households in Hoa Minh Ward in Lien Chieu District on the same day.

As a result of the torrential downpour that commenced on Friday night, traffic disruptions were experienced on various routes in Da Nang City on Saturday morning.

Areas such as Suoi Da (Rock Stream) and Linh Ung Pagoda experienced rainfall of up to 130 millimeters on Saturday, while downpours led to rising water levels in the Vu Gia and Cam Le Rivers.

By noon on Saturday, certain sections of National Highway 1 in the city remained flooded.
