The contest, organised by the General Department for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) in coordination with with the EmPower project, is sponsored UN Women with the goal of targeting the community, journalists and photographers who have witnessed inspirational stories about women in disaster prevention and control.

The contest is open to Vietnamese people of all ages, and entries must portray women in natural disasters through inspirational photos and stories.

Accordingly, the period to launch and receive entries is from November 15 to December 15, 2021. The judging period will take place from January 2 to January 30, 2022.

The organising board is expected to present the gold prize, worth 15 million VND, and the silver prize, worth 10 million VND, to the best entries. The Community Prize, worth 5 million VND, will be presented to the entry of a non-specialist contestant whose work receives the most appreciation from the organisers. The Voting Prize, worth 5 million VND, will be given to the entry with the largest amount of interaction on the World Disasters Fanpage.

Entries should include at least one photo with one story description for the photo (minimum 100 words). Each author can submit an unlimited number of works.

The winning photos will be selected based on the specific impact on society’s awareness of the topic of women in disaster prevention and control. The works should be original, unique, creative and may not have been entered in or received a prize at a competition before.
