The event was attended by Vo Van Thuong, a member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC), and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Communications and Education, among other notable guests.

Nguyen Du (born in 1765) is a national great poet and world cultural celebrity who has made significant contributions to Vietnam’s literary treasure, particularly through his masterpiece titled “Truyen Kieu” (The Tales of Kieu).

In 1965, the World Peace Council decided to celebrate Nguyen Du’s 200th birth anniversary, along with eight other world cultural celebrities.

In 2013, the UNESCO General Assembly honored Nguyen Du, along with 107 other cultural celebrities from around the world.

During the ceremony, a special art program titled “Nguyen Du – hundred years in the realm…” was held to depict the life and achievements of the great poet Nguyen Du.

On the same day, the Ha Tinh Provincial People’s Committee, in collaboration with the Vietnam Association of Kieu Studies and the Nguyen (Tien Dien) family council, held a solemn ceremony to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Nguyen Du’s death.
