Classical music is like a hidden treasure, filled with beauty, glitter and sparkle. Unfortunately, few people can access this treasure, due to the many prejudices that this music genre is only for the elite and noble.

You don’t have to go to the Hanoi Opera House to enjoy classical music – it’s completely free!

The Vietnam Youth Symphony Orchestra (VYO) is hosting its annual community concert series, jointly organized by the Vietnam Youth Music Institute (VYMI) and the People’s Committee of Hoan Kiem District of Hanoi. This program is aimed at supporting education promotion for disadvantaged children at the Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation, a charity organization that rescues and supports street children, children with disabilities, and victims of human trafficking across Vietnam.

The Vietnam Youth Orchestra (VYO) brings together young people from all backgrounds and professions who share a passion for music. The Orchestra’s mission is to spread good values to society by performing classical music in an annual concert series called the VYO Community Concert.

With performances held for free in public spaces around Hanoi, the VYO Community Concert has brought the classic tune – known as the world’s artistic quintessence – closer to the Vietnamese audience.

The program has received support from not only domestic organizations, but also the embassies of the UK, Australia, and Finland, among others. This attention from international friends in meaningful charity activities has raised expectations that the program will be able to provide aid to disadvantaged children.
