The event has garnered registrations from 20 teams representing nine countries and territories, and will feature an impressive 13 events with eight grades, all to be held at the city’s renowned theatre.

Organized by Interkultur and Hoi An since 2011, the International Choral Festival has been gathering thousands of artists to perform in men’s and women’s mixed and equal voice sacred choral music, hymns, chamber, and folklore with age groups of youth, teen, and adult. The competition has been a resounding success, bringing together talented vocalists from all around the world to celebrate the beauty of music.

The spectacular opening ceremony of the event will take place at the Hoi An Theater at 8 pm on April 2. Afterward, the troupes will hold a grand parade, winding through the ancient Old Quarter of Hoi An, following the award ceremony on April 4. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to witness the vibrant culture on display!

The competition’s organisers will reward gold medals and certificates to the winners of eight categories. Additionally, teams will be given the opportunity to partake in a public performance of International Melody and local performances of art troupes from 7:30 PM at the Japanese Bridge, Kazik Park, and Ba Mu Pagoda on April 3rd and 4th.

Interkultur first brought a choral competition to Hoi An in 2011, and Thua Thien-Hue hosted the second edition in 2012. The jury for the competition is chosen by Interkultur, and Dang Chau Anh will be the sole Vietnamese representative on the panel.

The biennial competition is considered a rendezvous for international choir teams and friends coming to the UNESCO-recognised world heritage site.

In the previous competition in 2019, the Vocalista Angels, a children’s choir team from Indonesia, won the Vietnam International Choir Competition, while the Vietnamese choir of the National University of Art Education was awarded the silver prize in the mixed choirs.
