The Vietnam National Opera and Ballet (VNOB) is set to showcase the splendor and elegance of Italian opera, a genre of music that originates from the heart of Europe. Through breathtaking performances, talented artists will bring the timeless beauty and grandeur of Italian opera to Vietnamese audiences. This cultural exchange aims to introduce the captivating art form to a new audience and further enrich the local arts scene.

Opera, which originated in Florence, Italy in the late 16th century, is a unique art form that combines music and theater. With its inclusion of singers, choirs, orchestras, and additional art forms like ballet and drama, opera offers a multi-dimensional experience for its audience. Not only does it entertain, but it also serves as a medium for social commentary. Through its performances, opera sheds light on the social realities of its time, portraying the struggles and hardships faced by the working class. It explores the lives of the oppressed, unraveling their destinies and highlighting their desires for freedom and liberation. Opera is a powerful art form that allows for the expression of deep emotions and tells stories that resonate with audiences across time.

Through the enchanting melodies of classic Italian operas such as “La Traviata” by Giuseppe Verdi, “La Boheme” by Giacomo Puccini, and “Le nozze di Figaro” by Mozart, local and international audiences in Hanoi will be transported to a vibrant and immersive world reminiscent of the Italian Colosseum or opulent European balls. This unique experience allows audiences to indulge in the rich tapestry of emotions and stories that these timeless masterpieces offer.

“The audience will be delighted by the ‘back-to-super-classic’ Italian opera, a mesmerizing and surreal experience set in the passionate world of Italy,” enthusiastically expressed VNOB Director Phan Manh Duc.
