The “Vietnamese Tet in Me” contest is divided into four creative categories: photography, painting, video, and literature/poetry. Each category boasts attractive prizes, with a first-place prize of €500, two second-place prizes of €300 each, and three third-place prizes of €200 each.
Additionally, the contest features special awards, including the Excellent Collective Prize and the Audience Choice Award. With a total prize pool expected to reach an impressive €12,000, this competition is an exciting opportunity for creative individuals.
Organized by the Union of Vietnamese Associations in Europe and the Union of Vietnamese Women’s Associations in Europe, this contest aims to strengthen cultural bonds within the community, particularly among younger Vietnamese living abroad. By encouraging expressions of Vietnamese culture and traditions, especially those surrounding Tet, the holiday that celebrates the Vietnamese Lunar New Year, the competition seeks to unite the Vietnamese diaspora with their rich heritage while also sharing Vietnam’s vibrant culture with an international audience.

Nguyen Viet Trieu, President of the Union of Vietnamese Women’s Associations in Europe and head of the organizing committee, emphasized that the contest is a celebration of Vietnamese cultural heritage and a way to connect the community with their roots. The competition is open to all ages and nationalities living, studying, or working in Europe, making it a diverse and inclusive event.
With the deadline set for February 15 and the awards ceremony scheduled for March 29, the contest has already garnered praise from notable figures. At a media briefing, Nguyen Manh Dong, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, highlighted the importance of initiatives like this in preserving Vietnamese culture and language, especially for the younger generation, who are crucial to the future and strength of the Vietnamese community worldwide.

Dong also expressed his hope that the contest would expand globally to other Vietnamese diaspora communities, encouraging the continued preservation and celebration of Vietnam’s cultural values on an international scale.
This contest marks the first online event of the “Preservation, Promotion, and Popularization of Vietnamese Culture in Europe” project, initiated by the two unions. The project’s overarching goal is to foster intergenerational bonds among Vietnamese people in Europe, cultivating a strong sense of patriotism, national pride, and cultural integration.
